Conte called on Spurs to be more clinical despite the unbeaten run
Tottenham have equalled their best-ever start to the Premier League season with 14 points from six matches.
Even though
Tottenhamhasn't lost yet in the Premier League, head coach
Antonio Conte
has told the team to "be real." Spurs kept up their good start to the season with a 2-1 win over Fulham. They are now only one point behind early leaders Arsenal before their game against Manchester United on Sunday.
Spurs haven't won a trophy in a long time, but a strong finish to last season helped them beat
Arsenal
and get into the Champions League. This has made people more excited about the team as it tries to end its trophy drought.
But Conte has warned against getting too excited as expectations rise, and he has said again that he doesn't think the club is ready to compete at the highest level.
"It's important to be excited and enthusiastic about the team. At the same time, I have to be realistic because last November, when we lost 3-0 at home to United, things were really bad. The club then made a decision, "he said.
"Someone thinks we are on the same level as other top teams after only 10 months. I don't think this is possible. If I want to lie to you, I can lie to you."
Harry Kanescored his fifth goal in Spurs' win over Fulham, and
Richarlison
had a good game. However, last year's Golden Boot winner Son Heung-Min has yet to score a goal this season.
But Conte is not worried and says: "I'm not worried because when my players, including Sonny, play like this, I'm not worried. With these strikers, we will score a lot of goals." Now, all eyes will be on Spurs' Champions League match against Marseille on Wednesday. This is the first game of Spurs' season in Europe's top competition.
