Leicester City rejected Chelsea's improved £70m bid for Wesley Fofana

The Blues have already seen two of their offers be rejected by Leicester City. However, with Fofana being Thomas Tuchel’s main target this summer, the Blues hoped their improved £70m would earn them the signature of the player.

Chelsea has already signed

Kalidou Koulibaly

from Napoli, however, with the departures of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen,

Thomas Tuchel

eyes another centre-back added to his squad this summer.

According to

Sky Sports

, Leicester immediately rejected a third bid for defender

Wesley Fofana

worth £70m in total. The offer included an initial £60m with a possible £10m in add-ons, the additional fees have been described as "ambitious" targets by the Foxes as they felt the fee was unlikely to hit the full £70m total.

Being left out of Leicester's defeat to

Southampton

at the weekend, Fofana is eager to push for a move to Stamford Bridge this summer. However, Leicester City won't sell cheaper than their demanded £80m fee.

Chelsea

has already seen their approaches for Manchester City's Nathan Ake and Sevilla's

Jules Kounde

fail, and Leicester City is reportedly confident of keeping Fofana as the French defender penned a five-year contract extension with the Foxes in March.

Leicester City's boss

Brendan Rodgers

told his pre-match press conference asked about Fofana's potential transfer:

"The idea is that he is very much a Leicester player. He's not for sale. Unless anything changes, I would expect him to be here.

"There's nothing new from when we last spoke. We've spoken numerous times they are private conversations. Our communication is normal."
