Liverpool was held to a 1-1 draw at Anfield by Crystal Palace on a night that Darwin Nunez was sent off for a headbutt.

with a brilliant strike but Jurgen Klopp’s side was held to a draw for the second consecutive week.

James Milner after the game told Sky Sport:

“Disappointing. We started pretty well then lost our way a bit in the middle. At least we’re creating chances – if you’re not creating anything it’s a bigger problem. But it’s not the ideal start to the season.

“The reaction when we went down to 10 men was very, very good. The crowd helped us as well and [Luis Diaz] scored an incredible goal. I didn’t see the incident [when Nunez was sent off]. We’ll rally around him and I’m sure he’ll learn from it. The most important thing was the reaction.”

Jurgen Klopp also after the game said:

"It was a really good start, exactly what we wanted, showing a lot of desire, it was all there."

"We were then unlucky in situations. The game plan for Palace was obviously to have five at the back, get men behind the ball and go for the counterattack. It is difficult with the speed of Zaha.

"The second half again started positive, but getting the red card was a knockback. Of course, it was red, he was provoked but that is not how he should behave. Then we equalize four minutes later. With 10 men, putting in such an effort. My real feeling now is that I am proud."
