Hainer makes clear Bayern Munich stand towards Spurs star Harry Kane

Sat 13 August 2022 | 20:45

Tottenham's star player has been linked to Bayern, but Hainer thinks that Bayern's attack is fine as it is for now.

Bayern

Munich's striker-less offense hasn't slowed down yet. They scored 11 goals in their first two games and have looked more fluid than they did with

Robert Lewandowski

.

Even with the high-profile arrival of

Sadio Mane

from

Liverpool

, Bayern fans asked the club to sign a natural striker, and numerous names were mentioned throughout the summer transfer window.

Bayern's managers say they don't need a straight Lewandowski successor with their strikers. Julian Nagelsmann has natural strikers

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

and Mathys Tel. Bayern has been connected to Tottenham's

Harry Kane

for next summer or later, but it's only a rumor.

In a recent interview with Az,

Herbert Hainer

, the president of Bayern, said that Kane is not a hot topic and that there is plenty of time to push that initiative if necessary. "At first, we focused on transfers for this summer. We now have a great team that is, on average, 25 or 26 years old. "Many players have long-term contracts, the framework is in place, and we can plan the next steps at our own pace," he said.

When asked if Bayern's front office has specifically brought up Kane's name, Hainer said "no," but he also said they're open to any possibilities in the future. "We'll keep an eye on the market as a whole, but we won't feel any pressure to do anything. "We have a great offense," he said.

Sport1 has said that the Kane option is considered a backup plan in case the striker-less "project" Nagelsmann is working on "doesn't work out at all," which seems very unlikely in the season. Still, the summer transfer window of 2023 is a long way off.

For now, it looks like Bayern is done with business for the summer, except for the possibility that Joshua Zirkzee will be sold for around €20 million. Nagelsmann was still hoping to get Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig, but it doesn't look like that will happen before the transfer window closes on September 1. Laimer could be one of the free agents who join Bayern next summer. Harry Kane? That will be the question.
