The new Premier League season starts with Arsenal's victory against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

match at Selhurst Park on Friday. Arsenal beat Patrick Vieira’s team with two goals to start the new season with a victory.

Gabriel Martinelli scored the first goal of the Premier League season in the 20th minute. Saka’s cross from the corner picks out Zinchenko at the far post. He nods it back across goal and it is Martinelli who nods it under the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

Martinelli could score earlier after Gabriel Jesus shot was blocked into his path but he missed the target.

Odsonne Edouard could score for Palace with a header from six yards but Aaron Ramsdale denied him with a strong save.

Palace had another chance early in the second half but again Ramsdale denied Eberechi Eze in front of goal with a great save.

A cross from Bukayo Saka was turned into his own net by Palace defender Marc Guehi in the 85th minute.

This was Mikel Arteta’s 50 league win as Arsenal manager after 98 matches in charge, making him  the second-quickest manager to reach 50 league wins after Arsene Wenger.
