Official: Alex Telles joins Sevilla on loan from Manchester United

Thu 04 August 2022 | 16:00

Failing to find himself a place in Eric ten Hag's plans, the Brazilian left accepted a loan switch to Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium after he fell through the pecking order behind Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

United signed

Alex Telles

from Porto in October 2020 for €18m as the left-back made 50 appearances for the Red Devils. However, he fell through the pecking order behind Luke Shaw the last term, and with the addition of Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, he had no place in Eric ten Hag’s squad, forcing him to the exit doors as he accepted a season-long loan switch to

Sevilla

.

The Premier League side released

an official statement

confirming the loan agreement, wishing the Brazilian luck with the Seville side.

"

Manchester United defender and Brazil international Alex Telles has agreed to spend the 2022/23 season on loan with Sevilla in Spain,"

the statement reads.

After Dean Henderson and Alvaro Fernandez, Telles is the third player to leave

Manchester United

on loan. His contract with the Red Devils runs until 2024 and he wishes to revive his career if he impresses at Sevilla.

"This move will enable Alex to play in a sixth country after starting his career with Juventude and Gremio in his native Brazil, before moving to Galatasaray in Turkey, Internazionale in Italy, Porto in Portugal and, of course, United in England.

"A popular and professional member of the squad, Telles leaves United with everybody’s best wishes for the campaign to come and Reds supporters will be following Sevilla’s results from afar."

Manchester United will kick off their Premier League season on Saturday at

Brentford

.
