Atletico Madrid president: Practically impossible for Ronaldo to join

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo insists signing Cristiano Ronaldo is impossible.

Cristiano Ronaldo

who wants to leave

Manchester United

after just one season back in Manchester and join a club in the Champions League has been linked with

Atletico Madrid

in recent days but the Spanish club's president has ruled out the signing of Ronaldo.

Enrique Cerezo told COPE:

"I don't know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid.

"It's definitely not true. It is practically impossible for him to come to Atletico Madrid."

Five-time Ballon d’Or winner who missed United's pre-season tour due to family reasons returned to Club’s training ground on Tuesday for talks with Eric Ten Hag.

Reports say United still wants to keep Ronaldo but Jorge Mendes is pushing to find a solution for his client. Mendes contacted Chelsea and Bayern Munich in recent weeks but both clubs were not interested in signing Ronaldo. Real Madrid legend also reportedly turned down a lucrative £210m offer from a club in Saudi Arabia last week.

The 37-year-old Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer and scored 24 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions.
