Lewandowski recalls Barca's 8-2 Bayern loss as a past no one remembers
Joining Barcelona for a reported €50m fee this summer after a long spell with the Bavarians, the Polish striker claims "no one remembers" Bayern's brutal 8-2 demolition job on Barcelona, where he scored once contributing to the Bavarians' dominance.
Lewandowski joined Bayern Munich from Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in 2014, and still at the age of 33, he scored 50 goals for Bayern last season as he pushed for a transfer in the final year of his Bayern contract, leaving the Bavarians to join Barcelona for a €50m fee. He went on to win a historical treble that season with Bayern in the same season they achieved an 8-2 victory over his new side,Barcelona
Being questioned about the game this week,Lewandowski
was quick to discount the importance of that game. He told the reporters:
"No one remembers that anymore.
"Football isn't about what you've done in the past, it's about what you're doing now."
Referring to the 2013 Champions League, when he scored four times for his former side, Borussia Dortmund against Real Madrid, Lewandowski added:
"It's been a long time since we [Dortmund] scored four goals against Real Madrid, it's a long time ago."
Meanwhile, Lewandowski's former Dortmund teammate,Aubameyang
is excited to reunite with the Poland international. He said earlier:
"I was really excited because I know him well, we played together at Dortmund and had some nice times over there
"I was just happy and when this was official we are reunited and we had some fun words about the past.
