Busquets says Lewa could be the signing of the season in La Liga

Sergio Busquets said that he has high hopes for Robert Lewandowski's career at Camp Nou before Barcelona's pre-season game against Inter Miami.

will make him the best signing in LaLiga this season.

Lewandowski's long-awaited move to Camp Nou was finalized on Monday. He had said he wanted to leave Bayern after scoring 50 goals for the Bundesliga champions in all competitions last season.

The 33-year-old has been the Bundesliga's top scorer seven times, tying the record set by fellow Bayern great Gerd Muller. He will now lead Barca's attempt to win the league for the first time since 2018-19.

Busquets and new teammate

Andreas Christensen

spoke highly of the Poland striker to

Inter Miami

's media outlets before Barca's pre-season friendly against the Major League Soccer team. When asked if Lewandowski was the best signing of the season in LaLiga, Busquets said: "Well, because of his name, it could be in the media. But it doesn't help much to value this before the competition starts or a match.

"We'll probably say this when the season is over, and he's had a great season as an individual because that will mean that the team did well. I hope it will turn out like this." Christensen, a former Chelsea defender, joined Lewandowski in moving to Camp Nou during the transfer window. He thinks that Lewandowski's eight Bundesliga titles will help Xavi's team.

Christensen said, "It's clear he has the qualities we need. He's won many trophies, and he has the mentality of a winner we need. I think he has all of these things. What they are should be pretty clear. So I don't think I need to say it, but yeah, everyone is just glad he's here.

"He can push us and, you know, tell us about what he's learned. I just think it's good for the team." On the other hand, Busquets has only one year left on his contract with the Catalan giants. However, he hasn't ruled out a move to MLS because he said he watched the league when his former teammate David Villa joined New York City.

Since David Villa started playing in this league, I've always liked it a lot, said the 34-year-old. "Because of the time difference, I started watching the league when I could.

"I'm not dismissing anything. Everyone knows that this is the last year of my contract, which is true. But I want to do well at the end of this season, which is full of things for my club and national teams. My main goal is to have fun, compete as hard as I can, and do my best. As for the future, we'll see.

"I've always said I like coming to the US and playing in their league. But we don't know what will happen in the future because nothing has happened yet, and it's too early."
