Ajax reach agreement with Tottenham over Steven Bergwijn
Ajax has agreed on a fee with Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of Steven Bergwijn.
According to the Dutch press,
Steven Bergwijnis on the verge of joining Ajax after they reached an agreement with
Tottenham. Fabrizio Romano also confirms this news and says that
Ajax.will pay Tottenham around €30 million for Bergwijn.
Ajax agreed on personal terms with Bergwijn a long time ago and hopes to complete the deal this week. Romano says that the Dutch winger will undergo medical tests on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old will return to the Eredivisie after two-and-a-half years with Tottenham. He joined Tottenham from PSV Eindhoven in 2020 in a deal worth a reported £26.7 million. He scored 8 goals in 83 matches and made just four Premier League starts last season.
Alfred Schreuder is now in charge of Ajax this season following the departure of Erik ten Hag to Manchester United and Bergwijn will be Ajax's first major signing of the summer. They have lost Ryan Gravenberch to Bayern Munich and the future of Lisandro Martinez, Antony, and Jurrien Timber is in doubt.
Tottenham signed Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, and Richarlison this summer after finishing fourth in the Premier League in 2021/22.
