Soriano admits Guardiola could coach in Serie A one day

Mon 04 July 2022 | 20:57

The Spanish coach's contract is up at the end of next season.

Ferran Soriano

, the club's chief executive officer, says that when

Pep Guardiola

's time at

Manchester City

is up, he might go coach in Italy. The CEO was speaking at a press conference on Monday to announce that City Group had bought a majority stake in the Serie B team,

Palermo

.

Since he stopped playing, the City manager has only worked for three teams. He started at

Barcelona

in La Liga, then moved to Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, and now he is at the

Etihad Stadium

. But the Spaniard could become a coach in Brescia or Roma, where he played when he was younger, where he also spent time as a player.

"He asked if Palermo is sunny. Maybe he'll work here someday "Calciomercato said something about Soriano. He knows everything we do and knows a lot about Italian soccer. He is as happy as everyone else about the deal." Soriano, on the other hand, talked about what City Group plans to do for the Rosanero. The Rosanero moved up from Serie C to the second level of Italian football last season.

"Our budget should let us stay in Serie B and give us a chance to move up to Serie A "he added. "We have a dream, and we need to be driven, humble, smart, and patient. The stadium is very important, and the Barbera is great. Since this is where the national teams play, there isn't much to do.

"What matters is that it'll always be full. Most of the job depends on getting Palermo fans to come to the stadium. We need them to care about the club for it to grow. This is our main goal."
