Laporta confirm Rafael Marquez return as Barcelona B coach

Former Barcelona player Rafael Marquez is set to become manager of the Blaugrana's B team.

Barcelona

president Joan Laporta confirmed on Saturday that Rafael Marquez will return to the club to coach the B team, taking over from Sergi Barjuan.

Marquez played for Barcelona between 2003 and 2010. During this time he won four La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies.

The 43-year-old who has played at five consecutive World Cups will become Barcelona B manager in the third tier of the Spanish league system.

Speaking at an event in S'Agaro, Laporta said:

"Rafa in principle had [agreed] to be the coach of Barca Atletic last year, [but] he had a situation that prevented him from doing so.

"Now this has already been resolved and Rafa will be the coach of Barca Atletic next season.

"I am especially happy because I had Rafa as a player, he is a person with a great personality, captain of the Mexican team, and who was part of one of the best Barca [teams] in history."

Laporta also confirm that

Franck Kessie

and

Andreas Christensen

will officially join Barcelona this week on free transfers and revealed that Leeds United star Raphinha wants to join Barcelona.
