Botman believes Newcastle United can get to the top

The Dutch star will be in the Premier League from next season.

expressed his hope that they can lead the team to their goal of getting to the top.

By paying 37 million euros to

Lille

, Newcastle United was able to recruit the central defender of the team. The transfer was made on Friday, with Newcastle competing with other teams such as Serie A champions AC Milan. The Netherlands Under-21 star has become Newcastle's third summer signing after Matt Targett and Nick Pope, with other players being linked with Eddie Howe's squad, with Botman  now confident his decision to move to St James' Park It was the right decision.

He said: 

"I'm really happy – delighted – and I can't wait to start this new adventure," Botman, who penned a five-year contract, told Newcastle's official website. 

"This is the best day of my life, to sign a contract with Newcastle United. It's a day I've worked hard for and I'm very excited.

"Newcastle had a long-term plan to get to the top, for both me and for the club, and they play in the Premier League which is the best league in Europe. 

"The whole package is just perfect. I'm looking forward now to meeting the fans and also my new team-mates."
