Brother of former Manchester United pair set to replace Matt Judge
Tom Keane, brother of Everton defender Michael and Wigan striker Will, is anticipated to replace Matt Judge.
Judge's resignation was the latest in a series of high-profile
Old Trafford
upheavals.
Ed Woodward
was succeeded by Richard Arnold, who was elevated from group managing director, and senior scouts Jim Lawlor and Marcel Bout just left. John Murtough and Darren Fletcher have been football and technical directors for a year.
Judge, who has been at
Manchester Unitedsince 2012 and has handled transfer and contract negotiations since 2014, doesn't see himself in the club's long-term plans. According to the
Daily Mail
, Keane will assume part of the Judge's duties. That includes a significant' involvement in arranging moves in Erik ten Hag's first summer as manager.
Keane is a Brandsmiths lawyer. The organization calls him a 'trusted counsel and advocate for household name players, managers, and analysts' with 'extensive expertise in the football industry' He's negotiated high-value transfers, contracts, and endorsement agreements.
Keane is an FA-registered intermediary of New Era Global Sports and may be more informed in football than banking, investment, and financing. Michael and Will Keane were FA Youth Cup winners with
Paul Pogbaand Jesse Lingard in 2011.
Both made first-team appearances, but neither broke through. Michael left Burnley permanently in 2015 after many loans and was signed by Everton for £30m two years later. Will joined Hull in 2016, scoring 26 goals for Wigan in League One.
