Barcelona rival Atletico Madrid for Nahuel Molina

Atletico Madrid and Barcelona are both looking for a new right back.

If there is a persistent problem in La Liga right now, it could very well be that there are not enough right-backs of a high enough caliber.

Barcelona

and

Atletico Madrid

are two clubs that have been negatively impacted by the shortage more than any others in recent times.

Dani Alves

was brought in by the former to battle for a spot with

Sergino Dest

; however, neither player has been particularly convincing. It has been a troublesome area for Barcelona since Alves left in the first place, with the exception of two seasons played under Luis Enrique, in which Sergi Roberto performed wonderfully.

The latter were fortunate enough to have Kieran Trippier on their roster, widely regarded as one of the league's top right-backs. However, the team managed by

Diego Simeone

has been hampered during the year by a number of injuries as well as a player transfer to Newcastle.

Both parties may have reached a conclusion regarding a long-term solution. According to Sport, Nahuel Molina is garnering interest from both the powerhouse clubs in La Liga and

Arsenal

.

Molina, 24 years old, played 37 games for Udinese in the Serie A last year and contributed 8 goals and 5 assists. In addition to that, Argentina's starting lineup now features him frequently.

It's possible that the asking price will be the deal-breaker. Molina is under contract with Udinese until 2026, and the club is demanding €30 million to release him. Molina would require both teams to spend a large portion of their transfer budget. Thus it remains to be seen whether of the two teams is willing to do so.
