Rangnick praised Austria after debut win against Croatia

Austria defeated the World-Cup runner-up by 3 goals.

Former

Manchester United

boss Ralf Rangnick defeated Croatia 3-0 in his first game as

Austria

manager.

While

Croatia

controlled the ball in the first half, Austria took the lead with a goal from Marko Arnautovic. In the second half, Michael Gregoritsch and Marcel Sabitzer scored the team's third goal to give Rangnick the victory in his first game. The German also became the first Austria coach since Hans Krankl in 2002 to win his first game and clean sheet. After the game, Rangnik praised his team's performance.

"We had problems in the first 25 minutes, but getting the lead just before the break did us good. In the second half we played really well and scored two wonderful goals – we could even have scored more.

"I am very satisfied."

Austria striker Arnautovic added:

"The players were full of energy. Croatia are an excellent team, but we played a great match.

"We turned our chances to goals and deserved this win. We want to return to the top."
