Robert Lewandowski

to remain put at

Bayern Munich

following the striker’s request to depart.

He asked the club to leave as the season reached its end and he does not want wait until his deal expires.

Lewandowski has also insisted that he does not like to stay, saying this week:

Muller, however, is hoping that he changes his mind and stays at the club.

Bayern won eight consecutive Bundesliga titles since Lewandowski arrived at the club.

Speaking to German magazine Kicker, Muller said:

"I would like my long-term attacking partner to stay."

Barcelona are keen on acquiring Lewandowski’s services, but they are struggling financially.

"It's a break and we've experienced a lot during these times,"

"I just remember Franck Ribery's desire to move to Real Madrid."

Muller added:

"One thing is certain: every player, who is still under contract in Munich on September 1, will also want to play well, because no player enjoys playing badly."
