Manuel Neuer extends his contract with Bayern Munich until 2024

The German veteran goalkeeper will stay in the Bundesliga for another two years.

has extended his contract with the club until 2024.

Neuer, who is considered by many to be one of the best goalkeepers in the history of football, has been able to get closer to his good form in recent seasons after suffering a serious injury. The 36-year-old goalie recorded 10 clean sheets this season, winning his tenth consecutive Bundesliga title and qualifying for the 2022 World Cup with the

German national team

. Now he has extended his contract with Bayern Munich and expressed his happiness over this issue.

He said: 

"I'm very pleased that my journey continues at FC Bayern," said Neuer. "We'll have a very good team again with which we can play for every title. As a goalkeeper, captain and leader, I want to be the support and a key factor in our big goals. We want to extend our title record and compete again for the DFB Cup and Champions League."

Neuer joined Bayern from Schalke in 2011. He played 472 games for his team and in 2012-13 he was able to win the treble with the club and in 2020 under the leadership of Hans Flick he was able to win the sextuple. He has conceded 368 goals during this period.

Bayern Munich CEO, Oliver Kahn said: 

"Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper in the world and has been setting the standard around the world for years. It's a huge achievement to be so consistently world class for such a long time. We're very happy to have extended his contract. Manuel is a defining figure in the history of FC Bayern."
