La Liga says they are taking legal action against Paris Saint-Germain after Kylian Mbappe signed a new contract with the French club.

La Liga has announced they have reported

Paris Saint Germain

to UEFA for what they believe to be a breach of UEFA's Financial Fair Play rules.

La Liga says it is scandalous that PSG can afford such a deal given their recent finances and they will file a complaint to UEFA, French tax authorities and the European Union.

Earlier on Saturday after it emerged that

Kylian Mbappe

will extend his contract with PSG until 2025, La Liga president Javier Tebas voiced his criticism on social media, calling Mbappe's return to PSG "an insult to football".

"What PSG is doing by renewing Mbappe with large sums of money...after posting losses of 700 million euros in recent seasons and having a wage bill of over 600 million euros, is an INSULT to football.

Al-Khelaifi is as dangerous as the Super League

Tebas tweeted.

The 23-year-old was widely seen as likely to sign with

Real Madrid

with his PSG deal expiring this summer but in a shocking u-turn he decided to turn down Real Madrid's offer and stay at the French champions for another three years.
