Ancelotti admits: Salah is the world's best in his position

In midweek, Mohamed Salah declared himself the finest forward in the world, and Carlo Ancelotti hesitates to disagree.

Mohamed Salah and

Real Madrid

boss Carlo Ancelotti concur that the

sensation is the finest player in the world in his role.

On May 28 in Paris, Ancelotti's Madrid will meet Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in the

Champions League

final, which will feature two Ballon d'Or candidates in Salah and Karim Benzema.

Salah has been in good domestic striking form this season, on track to win the

Premier League

Golden Boot with 22 goals and being directly involved in 35 goals in 34 league matches.

After earning the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year award in England, the Egyptian proclaimed himself the finest forward in the world right now

"If you compare me with any player in my position, not only in my team but in the world, you will find that I am the best," he told BeIN SPORTS.

"I always focus on my work and do my best, and my numbers are the best proof of my words."

Only five players have scored more than Salah (154) in Europe's top five leagues in all competitions since his Liverpool debut in August 2017: Immobile (156), Mbappe (167), Ronaldo (169), Messi (174), and Lewandowski (232).

Meanwhile, only Lewandowski (49), Benzema (44), Mbappe (35), Christopher Nkunku (34), and Immobile (32) have scored more than Salah (30) this season.

The argument over who should win the next Ballon d'Or lingers, with Benzema, who might help France win the World Cup in Qatar, and Salah among the top candidates for the individual award.

In a pre-match press briefing before the LaLiga fixture against Cadiz on Sunday, Ancelotti confessed that no player in his position gets close to Salah right now.

"Salah has said that in his position he is the best in the world and I think he is right," Ancelotti told reporters.

"I agree with him. In his position, yes, he is the best in the world."
