Simeone reacts to Pique & Rubiales' leaked audio about the Supercopa

Tomorrow evening, Atletico Madrid will face Granada.

Los Rojiblancos will want to capitalize on their thrilling win against Espanyol last weekend by securing another key victory.

Atletico Madrid

is still vying for a place in the top four.

They are presently equal on points with Barcelona and Sevilla, who are in second and third place, respectively, and will be level with them if Real Betis defeats Elche later this evening.

And Atletico has a difficult schedule ahead of them. Real Madrid, Sevilla, and Real Sociedad are still on the schedule.

Even Granada is a more formidable opponent than they were a week ago. They've recently hired Aitor Karanka as their new coach in an attempt to turn around their poor form and avoid relegation.

The Andalusian club is presently 17th in

, although they are equal on points with Levante, who are currently in the relegation battle. They'll go all out against the Wanda Metropolitano in the hopes of causing an upset.

Off the field, the leaked audio of Gerard Pique and Luis Rubiales discussing negotiations to bring the

Supercopa de Espana

to Saudi Arabia has caused quite a commotion.

The leaked tape was particularly crucial to Atletico because it suggested a level of comfort between the RFEF and their two main rivals, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“In principle, in the same way we feel very proud to have competed in these last ten years, we see ourselves reflected in all those fighting to be close like Betis, Sevilla, Villarreal, La Real,” Diego Simeone said in pre-match comments carried by

Diario AS

“We all feel that we’re in the same bag.

“And yes, it’s clear based on the information regarding the Supercopa that there’s no doubt that, theoretically, the RFEF are benefited economically if Barcelona and Madrid make it there.”
