Juventus to lower Juan Cuadrado's salary in contract extension

Although a clause in Juan Cuadrado's contract has apparently been invoked, extending his deal until 2023, Juventus are still seeking a reduced pay.

Juan Cuadrado

, the Colombian international's contract was set to end on June 30, and negotiations for a new deal had been ongoing for weeks. A provision was triggered this weekend, according to the

Gazzetta dello Sport

and others, because it was his 40th competitive game of the season.

The contract will be automatically extended till June 2023 as a result of this. Juventus, on the other hand, is said to be seeking a smaller compensation than the previous agreement, maybe by spreading the cost over two seasons rather than one.

In any event, the notion of Cuadrado becoming a free agent is no longer a viable option. He signed the Bianconeri from

Chelsea

in 2015 for €25 million-plus bonuses, and he has five goals and five assists this season.

Paulo Dybala

, Mattia De Sciglio, Federico Bernardeschi, and

Mattia Perin

are among the

Juventus

players that could depart for free this summer.
