Mane believes he was “luckier” than Salah to get to Qatar 2022

Reds teammates Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane locked horns again on Tuesday and the latter prevailed as Senegal vanquished Egypt.

Sadio Mane

helped

Senegal

beat

Egypt

and reserve a place in the

World Cup 2022

and he says he was “luckier” in his encounter with

Mohamed Salah

, his Liverpool teammate.

Egypt were defeated at the hands of Senegal on penalties on Tuesday.

Senegal’s victory came about seven weeks after defeating the same rivals on penalties, but in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Although he is delighted to have gotten the better of Salah, Mane knows the outcome of both matches could have been different.

"

I won twice and he lost twice. I was luckier to come out on top,"

Mane told OnTime Sports.

"I am very proud that we won the Africa Cup of Nations and now qualified for the World Cup, it's a dream I had.

"It was a difficult game for both teams. Our fans pushed us to win and we didn't stop fighting. We knew the game wouldn't be easy but we pressed to score."

Senegal, Ghana, Tunisia, Morocco and Cameroon will be Africa’s representatives in Qatar.

Mane and Salah may get together on the pitch next weekend as Liverpool get ready to face Watford in the Premier League.
