Mon 28 March 2022 | 16:12

The Denmark international is about to have a ‘special’ comeback to Copenhagen before his first home international after the 2021 incident.

Christian Eriksen

described his comeback goal in the battle against the

Netherlands

as “just a warm-up”, as he aims to make a “special” return to Copenhagen with his national team.

The

Denmark

international is going to come back after a long time since he suffered a cardiac arrest when Denmark faced

Finland

in Euro 2020 and he will feature for Denmark against Serbia on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old impressed with his return on Saturday, meeting the back of the net during his side’s loss at the hands of the Netherlands.

The Brentford midfielder is now keen on making his return to home turf, which he believes will be an emotional one.

"

That [the Serbia match] will be even more special,"

Eriksen told Danish TV station Kanal 5.

"[Saturday's goal] was just a warm-up for Tuesday, when I'll be running in exactly the place where it happened."

Kasper Hjulmand has announced that Eriksen, who made a move to Brentford as he was not allowed to play in Serie A for having implanted cardioverter-defibrillator device, will begin the contest.

Denmark earned World Cup qualification in a remarkable style, getting 27 points from 10 matches, and Eriksen is eager to compete in Qatar.

He thanked the fans for the standing ovation he got when he had his international football return.

"

To start the comeback in international football like this was the perfect way,"

Eriksen told

Sky Sports

on Saturday.

"I felt very welcome. I've been here before for many years so, of course, they [the fans] know me, but it was a very heart-warming reception for sure.

"I'm looking forward to playing at the Qatar World Cup, but there are a lot of games in between and I'm focused on them."
