Confirmed: Next 'Pedri' on his way to Barcelona

Pablo Torre, a prodigy from Racing Santander, has joined FC Barcelona.

The 18-year-old Cantabrian has been dubbed "the most brilliant player to emerge from Racing Santander since Sergio Canales," one of

LaLiga

's top playmakers this season.

In the meantime, he has been likened to ex Barcelona and Espanyol midfielder Ivan de la Pena by

Mundo Deportivo

. His brilliance appears to be undeniable, irrespective of who he resembles people of. According to

MARCA

, Real Madrid was in a furious bidding war for his services. Real Sociedad was said to be interested as well.

Torre, a member of Spain's under-19 squad, has appeared in 48 matches for Racing. He has been a standout in Spain's third division this season, scoring six goals and providing six assists in 21 games as a midfielder.

According to

Diario AS

, the transfer would cost Barcelona €5 million at first, with the sum rising to €20 million depending on conditions. Torre will remain with Racing until the summer when he will be sent to Barcelona's B club. However, Barcelona expects him to play first-team minutes as early as next season.

The circumstance reminds us a little bit of how Pedri joined the Blaugrana. Real Madrid was also interested in the current gem of Barcelona's midfield, who transferred on a similar arrangement. The Catalans would undoubtedly be ecstatic if Torre followed a similar path.
