I won’t blame Arrizabalaga - Chelsea boss Tuchel

The Blues boss did not blame penalty villain Kepa Arrizabalaga after their loss at the hands of Liverpool in the EFL Cup final.

Thomas Tuchel

did not blame

Kepa Arrizabalaga

for the loss

Chelsea

suffered against

Liverpool

in the EFL Cup final, insisting there are ‘no regrets’ after the loss.

After the breathtaking two-hour football that saw the teams having a goalless draw, the first 21 kicks of shoot-out were not decisive, before Kepa gave the Reds their first domestic cup since 2012.

Edouard Mendy replaced the Spain international from the bench in the extra time in order to win Chelsea the shoot-out.

The Blues manager, however, did not put the blame on his player post-match.

"

I feel bad for him but [there is] no blame",

Tuchel said.

"If you want to blame someone, blame me. I take the decisions and I don’t take them to be the hero.

"We took the decision like we did last time [in the Super Cup] in the penalty shoot-out.

"Everybody knows how good he is. Unfortunately, he could not save the penalties, which were brilliantly taken."
