West Ham were on the verge of penning with Duvan Zapata during the final day of the January transfer window before the deal with Atalanta did not take place.
According to reports from
ESPN
,
Atalantaand
West Hamreached quick agreements on the transfer deadline, and the idea became realistic just a few hours before the window closed. The two parties exchanged paperwork, with West Ham and
Duvan Zapata
penning the contract before they sent it to Atalanta.
The Bergamo side ‘went missing’ when the deadline came close and weren’t found as the winter transfer window eventually ended, clearly not willing to lose the Colombian player.
The 30-year-old, who’s deal will reach its end in 2023, has featured in 23 games this season. The forward found the target 12 times and contributed seven assists; however, he is not sidelined due to a adductor injury.
