Sunderland eye Roy Keane for the managerial role

following their disappointing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Bolton. However, in contrast with the reports, he has yet to be offered the job.
Keane managed Sunderland when having his first managerial role from 2006 to 2008.
He delivered promotion as Championship title-winners during his first season as a boss and then helped the club finish 15th in the
Premier Leaguebefore resigning in 2008.
The 50-year-old has not been working since he was sacked by Ipswich Town in 2011. However, he had stints on the Republic of Ireland,
Aston Villaand Nottingham Forest’s coaching staff. He also worked as a pundit on television.

, Keane is thinking about returning after 10 years.
Other candidates on Sunderland’s shortlist are ex-Celtic boss Neil Lennon, former Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock, and recently-sacked Hull City manager Grant McCann.
Sunderland are currently sitting third in Sky Bet League One, having their fourth successive season. They are two points adrift of Wigan and five behind leaders Rotherham.
After Johnson was sacked, Mike Dodds has been managing the team for the matches. They will lock horns with Doncaster on Saturday.
