Egypt appreciated the efforts of Mohamed Salah once again as he found the target and provided an assist in their battle against Morocco in the quarter-final of AFCON.

with a 2-1 victory over

, who are keen on extending their record to eight AFCON titles and their first since 2010, were behind early doors against Morocco after Sofiane Boufal’s penalty.

It was after a long VAR check when Ayman Ashraf fouled on Achraf Hakimi. Egypt had possession in the game, but they did not level the game until eight minutes into the second half, through Mohamed Salah. The Pharaohs required an impressive save from Mohamed Abdou Gabal, who was sent off after sustaining an injury, to turn Nayef Aguerd’s header away.

Morocco failed to take that chance, and Trezeguet scored the winner for Egypt. They will go against Cameroon in the semi-finals on Thursday.
