After the suspension of the derby Estadio Benito Villamarin will be shut for next two games.

Real Betis

can’t play the next two games at their home stadium

Estadio Benito Villamarin

after the suspension of their clash against

Sevilla

in Copa del Rey. Real Betis’ last match against their local rivals was stopped when an object was thrown at Sevills’a head from the stands when the home side was celebrating

Nabil Fekir’s

goal, which leveled the game after Alejandro Gomez's opener in the 39th minute.

The game was resumed behind closed doors the next day, and Real Betis won that game 2-1, but the situation didn’t end for Real Betis without consequences as they have been forced to shut their stadium for the next two games.

The official statement released by the RFEF read:

"The sanction application to the disciplinary infraction … would be the total or partial closure of the venue for up to three games, or for two months.

"In this sense, this body considers the imposition of the sanction of total closure in its medium degree to be adequate and proportionate."

Their next home game will be on February 5 against Villarreal, and then two weeks later, they will host Real Mallorca.
