Odegaard returns to action for the Gunners

Tue 18 January 2022 | 19:16

Arsenal will have Odegaard against Liverpool while Kolasinac & Mari exit.

Despite the reports and speculations, it has been confirmed that the

Gunners’

clash against

Liverpool

in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Emirates Stadium will take place on Thursday, and the good news for

Mikel Arteta’s

side is

Martin Odegaard’s

return to action after testing positive for Covid-19.

Arteta hoped that the Liverpool match would be postponed as they were suffering to complete their squad with too many absent players due to injury, Covid-19 and international duty, they were in such bad shape that their match against Tottenham was postponed by the Premier League’s decision, but now it seems like they are in a better situation with Odegaard’s return, despite

Sead Kolasinac

 and

Pablo Mari’s

exit.

Arsenal is hoping that they will have some of their players back as the likes of

Bukayo Saka

,

Kieran Tierney

, and

Calum Chambers

, who picked up knocks in the first leg, are also hopeful of being passed fit.

Added to that, they could have some of their injured players such as

Emile Smith Rowe

and

Takehiro Tomiyasu

fit again.

Mikel Arteta is also waiting for some players that have been away on loan deals which could be a big boost for them.
