Egypt's Queiroz: We are ready for Sudan, I am happy with my players'

Egypt's national team boss, Carlos Queiroz, has comforted supporters prior to the AFCON showdown with Sudan, insisting that his squad is prepared for the knock-out round.

The Pharaohs began their campaign to the 2021

Africa Cup of Nations

with a 1-0 defeat against

Nigeria

On the other hand, Queiroz's side returned to winning ways by defeating

Guinea-Bissau

1-0 in the Group stage second match.

Despite winning their second game, some supporters remain dubious of the national team's quality, feeling that the players and management can do better.

Egypt's next stop will be against

Sudan

, with the two neighboring countries battling tomorrow, January 19th.

A win or a tie would send Egypt right into the Round of 16, but it won't be easy, especially as Sudan will be hoping for a victory because it's their final opportunity to qualify.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Portuguese said:

"We respect every participating team, and we do our best to prepare for every game.

"We don't have any COVID-19 infections, which is great.

"We are prepared to put on a great show against Sudan, and I am happy with my players' performances."
