Bencharki replaced Benoun in Morroco squad for AFCON

The Moroccan striker was added to his national team for the AFCON competition.

Zamalek

striker

Achraf Bencharki

will replace Badr Benoun in

Morocco

's squad for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bencharki initially played for Vahid Halilhodžić's side for AFCON, but the Moroccan coach decided to remove him and Badr Benoun from the 25-man squad. The CAF has decided to allow three more players to be included in the squad for the competition, with Bosnian coach Badr Benoun on the 28-man squad alongside Soufiane Rahimi and Mohamed Chibi.

Despite the depth of their squad for the competition, Morocco lost four players due to injuries before the match against Ghana. Ayoub El-Kaabi and Aymen Barkok are unable to play due to contacting Covid-19 and Youssef En-Nesyri and Badr Benoun due to injuries.

While most of the players mentioned are expected to have no problem continuing the competition, the Moroccan medical team announced that Benoun will not be competing and Achraf Bencharki was added to the squad.

The 27-year-old striker has left Cairo for Cameroon but will miss his team's first match against the Black Stars.
