Benjamin Mendy released on bail

, who has been accused of a series of sexual offenses, was released after the hearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday.

The France international was arrested by police on August 26 last year and spent 134 days in custody.

The player, who was previously held at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, was transferred to a prison in Manchester a few days ago, and then in a private hearing, was granted bail by Judge Patrick Thompson.

The 27-year-old was supposed to stand trial in January, however, it was later announced that the trial has been postponed and will be held on June 27.

Mendy has been granted bail until January 24, and the bail conditions state that during this time, he must live only at his home address, he shouldn’t contact any of the complainants and he must also surrender his passport by Friday.

The player has been accused of eight offences against five different women between October 11, 2020 and August 23, 2021.
