Barcelona to begin negotiation over Chelsea's captain

The Spanish star is nearing the end of his contract and there is no news of a contract extension at the moment.

in 2012 for Stamford Bridge and has since won many title and honors with the team. The 32-year-old defender's contract with Chelsea expires next summer and he can join any team as free agent.

This means that Azpilicuetacan negotiate with any team outside the English Premier League from the beginning of January and even sign a pre-contract with them.

Reports claimed that the Spanish player has held serious and advanced negotiations with Barcelona and has a great chance to wear the team's shirt. Xavi, the new Barcelona coach, is very interested in signing the Chelsea captain, and Joan Laporta and other managers of the club also agree with this transfer.

However, the recruitment of this player could be bad news for Dani Alves, who has just returned to the Nou Camp. The 38-year-old player has just signed a contract with Barca but will not be able to join the team until January, and the presence of Azpilicueta also means that his contract will not be extended next year.

Thomas Tuchel has decided to hand over the Chelsea captain's armband to the Spanish defender this season, but he has not been in the Chelsea squad for a few weeks and has only played in one of their last seven Premier League games.

However, it is said that the directors of the Blues are trying to extend his contract, although they have not been successful in this regard so far.
