Barcelona captain Alexia Putellas has been awarded the 2021 Women’s Ballon d’Or in a ceremony in Paris.
The 27-year-old, who played an integral role inBarcelona
's treble-winning side in the Primera División with 18 goals and 12 assists, scored in the 4-0 Champions League final triumph over WSL championsChelsea
and was selected to the tournament's squad of the season.
She finished the 2020-21 season as Europe's leading scorer in midfield, with 26 goals in all competitions, and was awarded Uefa's Women's Player of the Year and Midfielder of the Year.
