Pochettino hopes Neymar injury is not serious and he will return soon

Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes Neymar is not seriously injured, but admits the photographs of the injury do not seem good.

to a worrying ankle injury late in the game during a slide tackle by Loïs Diony at Stade Geoffroy Guichard.

The Brazilian striker was seen leaving the ground on crutches, and while Pochettino is hoping the star will recover quickly, he stressed that PSG must wait until Monday for a detailed assessment and extent of the injury.

"There is nothing more to say for the moment, it is the pain he felt in the leg with his ankle that turned. We will have the exams tomorrow and we will see,"

Pochettino had previously told

: "We will have to see this tomorrow but from the images, I hope that it's not a big deal and that he will be back with the squad quickly. But the action is not good."

Neymar subsequently posted an update to his official Instagram account.

"Let's recover, unfortunately these setbacks are part of an athlete's life,"

he wrote.

"Now that's what you have, lift your head and let's go. I'll come back better and stronger."

If Neymar is ruled out for an extended period of time, PSG can still field a star-studded front three, with

Di Maria

showing his worth against Saint-Etienne by scoring in consecutive league outings for the first time since November 2019.
