in 2020. Rudiger, however, found his way back to the main squad and became one of the Blues’ key players after Thomas Tuchel replaced Lampard and took the charge at Stamford Bridge.

The 28-year-old’s contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the season and an agreement on a contract extension is yet to come.

While some of the European giants such as

Paris Saint-Germain

Real Madrid

Bayern Munich

are already in line to snatch the top-rated center-back, Chelsea boss Tuchel hopes that the Germany international would decide to extend his stay with the London Blues.

"I am very sure also that Tony feels respected and knows what an important role he plays in this club,"

Tuchel said.

"I think he's up for the toughest challenge. The toughest challenge is to play Premier League football, to win titles.

"He is a big part of a big club and I am sure that he is aware of it. I am calm, I feel Tony is calm, I feel the situation inside here is calm. From here we go. I am happy that he plays how he plays. We need him on this kind of level."
