The bad news has reached Guardiola and Manchester City after the international matches.

Manchester City

midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has contracted Covid-19 and will be absent for next week matches.

De Bruyne, who played in the World Cup qualifiers with Belgium and played well against Estonia and Wales, has now returned to Manchester with a positive Covid-19 test and will miss his team matches against

Everton

and

Paris-Saint Germain

and his presence against West Ham will be in unknown. Guardiola confirmed the news and claimed that the star midfielder of his team will be absent in the important matches ahead.

"We have Jack getting better after he went to the national team. Phil Foden came back with a knock and a problem in his leg, but he is getting better. And unfortunately Kevin got a positive Covid test in Belgium and needs ten days.

"We found out two days ago, he is here. Forget about fitness and momentum, he [De Bruyne] is positive, now he has to recover.

"We have to be careful, people are dying from Covid, he is vaccinated so hopefully he will be okay. There is no concern about rhythm it's about the human being."

Manchester City are currently second in the Premier League, three points behind leaders Chelsea. They are one point ahead of Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and hope to secure their promotion.
