The Argentine coach hopes to qualify with DR Congo to the World Cup.
coach Hector Cuper has expressed hope that his team will not face
Egyptin the World Cup qualifiers.
Cuper led Egypt from 2015 to 2018 and reached the final of the African Cup of Nations with this team and lost to Cameroon in the final. The experienced coach also led Egypt to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years. Now that he is leading the Congo, he hopes to achieve a performance similar to his performance in Egypt. They managed to reach the World Cup qualifiers final round with 11 points from 6 games, and now Cuper has expressed hope that he will not face his former team.
“I spent a long time with the Egyptian national team and I reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup with them, but I couldn’t continue after that,”
Cuper said.
“There were no problems with the players or the Egyptian Football Association, it’s just that I reached my goal and I thought it’s better to end the journey there.
“I received offers from Egyptian clubs but I preferred to continue my job with DR Congo.
“I hope not to face Egypt in the final World Cup Qualifications round but if it comes to it I will play to win for sure."
