AC Milan midfielder Sandro Tonali believes ‘lack of concentration’ was the main reason for their 1-1 draw with Switzerland, but World Cup qualification is still in their hands.

The Azzurri took on

Switzerland

in the World Cup qualifiers and despite getting a penalty in the 90th minute, the game ended 1-1 at the Stadio Olimpico on Friday.

Switzerland took an early lead through

Silvan Widmer

in the 11th minute of the games. But

Giovanni

Di Lorenzo

’s scored the equalizer with a header on a well-worked free-kick.

“Football is like that,”

Tonali

told

Sport Mediaset

.

“We conceded a goal on the counter that changed the game, but we reacted really well and that is the important thing.

“We lacked a bit of concentration, but we can’t give up now.”

The result means that Group C will be decided on the final day of World Cup qualifying. The Azzurri must match Switzerland’s result against

Bulgaria

on Monday when they travel to

Northern Ireland

.

The two teams are currently sitting at the top of the table, separated only by goal difference, as Italy have +11 and Switzerland +9.
