The Senegal manager provided an update on Sadio Mane’s injury after he had to be sent off the pitch during his side’s 1-1 draw with Togo.

Sadio Mane

was forced off during Senegal’s clash against Togo on Thursday, with his side sealing one point in the

Liverpool

forward’s absence.

The Reds will receive a significant blow in case of any injury layoff; however, it is good news for Jurgen Klopp that

Aliou Cisse

can confirm that the player’s injury is not serious.

Yes, the exit of Sadio Mane has destabilised us,”

he admitted after the game.

“He is an important player for the team. We took him out as a precaution and there is nothing serious.”

The Reds will be happy with the news as they are already enduring an injury crisis.

During their last game before the international break, which came down to a 3-2 loss to West Ham, they were without some crucial players, with Joe Gomez dealing with a calf problem but the midfield was where they really lacked options.

Harvey Elliott was joined by Naby Keita, James Milner and Curtis Jones, whereas Roberto Firmino was also absent.

Mane’s return for their next Premier League clash against Arsenal remains to be seen. Notwithstanding the injuries, Liverpool got off on the right foot this season as they sit fourth in the table, having gained 22 points from 11 matches, falling four points behind league leaders Chelsea.
