England captain reflects on his recent lack of form.

Harry Kane

experienced an eventful summer. Kane stepped into the Euro 2020 final with England, hoping to get his hand on a major trophy in an international level for the first time. The Three Lions, however, lost the title to Roberto Mancini’s Italy in the final penalty shootouts.

At the club level, the talented striker tried to leave Tottenham to join their Premier League Rivals, Manchester City, but he failed to join the Citizens as his contract binds him to his current club until 2024.

The 28-year-old has not been able to return to his peak form ever since. He has scored only 10 goals this season and has failed to find the back of the net in his last five games.

Kane himself, however, is not worried about his current form and is focused on securing England’s place at the 2022 World Cup, as the Three Lions are set to face Albania at Wembley on Friday.

"From my point of view, it's easy for people to make an excuse when you're not on form or scoring as many as you usually do and that's where it's important for my own self-belief, for my own mentality, just to work harder,"

Kane said.

"That's always been my approach, whether I'm doing really well or the goals don't quite come - is to work hard and train hard for the team and that's what I've done my whole career.

"In this calendar year, it's been a great year for me personally and I hope to continue that on Friday night."
