Pogba pulls out of France squad due to injury

The Manchester United midfielder suffered a thigh injury during a training session on Monday.

Paul Pogba will not be able to play for France in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Finland.

On Monday, the midfielder was seen leaving Les Bleus' training session with team doctor Franck Le Gall. The French FA published a statement about the player's fitness on Tuesday.

"Paul Pogba is forced to withdraw from France's next two games at the Parc des Princes against Kazakhstan and against Finland in Helsinki,"

a statement from the French football federation read.

Pogba missed Man United's last two games against Manchester City and Tottenham due to


. The player will head back to Manchester to start his recovery process, with a return date yet to be clarified.

France are leading Group D of the qualifiers with 12 points from six matches. Didier Deschamps believes his side must continue to push for a World Cup qualification.

"The important thing is to reach our goal, to qualify for the World Cup. All my energy and our concentration must be on that,"

he told reporters.

"We must not think that we are already qualified because it is only Kazakhstan. We're going into the game with all our determination and strength to win."

A victory against Kazakhstan on Saturday will be enough for Les Bleus to secure their place in the next year's World Cup.
