The Reds are eyeing the Real Sociedad midfielder as another option instead of Jude Bellingham, as per recent reports.

Jude Bellingham

has attracted

’s attention and become

Jurgen Klopp

’s main target. The

Borussia Dortmund

teenager has been impressing this season and became a crucial player for the club’s first team, notwithstanding his age.

Bellingham has never featured in the Premier League, having made a move to Dortmund in 2020 from Birmingham. However, he is expected to return to England and many clubs are eyeing a summer move for the 18-year-old.

Liverpool are one of the clubs interested as the German tactician is looking to recruit in the midfield before the start of the next season. The Premier League side did not bring in a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, who made a move to Paris Saint-Germain this year.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also been linked with a move away from the Reds, whereas James Milner is going to be 36 in January and Naby Kieta is dealing with injuries.

Therefore, Liverpool should sign at least one midfielder next summer and they are keen on acquiring Bellingham’s services. However, Dortmund may not be open to cashing in on their prized asset next summer especially as they are likely to lose Erling Haaland.

Liverpool are also considering signing an alternative and according to reports from

Mikel Merino

emerges as a potential candidate.

The 25-year-old has been performing remarkably for

Real Sociedad

this season as La Real sit second on the La Liga table after 12 games. The ex-Newcastle midfielder’s buy-out clause is £51.4m but they may be willing to accept a lower fee.
