Egypt’s squad list against Gabon & Angola full of surprises

The Egypt manager has revealed the list of the squad for the remaining two 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Angola.

Carlos Queiroz

’s side are sitting top of Group F of the CAF World Cup qualifiers after their consecutive victories over Libya, which were Queiroz’s first two games in charge.

Having earned 10 points, the Egyptian national team have two opportunities to go to the next level when they lock horns with Angola in their fifth-round game or when they face Gabon during the last round.

They only need three points from those two matches to get qualification for the second and final round of qualifiers and then they will go against one of the group winners.

Their battle against Angola comes on November 12, before hosting Gabon on the 15th, according to CAF.

Al Ahly stars Mohamed Magdy Afsha and Mohamed Sherif have returned to the squad after missing the Libya matches due to technical reasons.

Mahmoud Alaa, the Zamalek defender, is also named as part of the squad along with Smouha forward Marwan Hamdi and Bank Al Ahly defender Ahmed Yassien, who is enjoying his first national team call-up.

Hamdi’s name is on top of the scoring charts of the Egyptian Premier League with three shots on target, whereas Yassien has been pulling off impressive performances with Bank Al Ahly this season after making a move from Misr El-Makkasa last summer.
