Official: Andriy Shevchenko appointed as the new Genoa boss
The AC Milan legend returns to Serie A by signing a three-year deal with the Liguria side.

confirmedon Sunday that they have appointed
Andriy Shevchenkoas their new manager. The Ukrainian coach has signed a contract until 2024 at the club, replacing the sacked Davide Ballardini.
Shevchenko will be the first manager to work under the club’s new owners. Miami-based firm 777 Partners will complete Genoa’s takeover on November 15, starting their project to save the Liguria side from relegation. Genoa are currently 16th in Serie A, having collected only nine points from their first 12 games of the campaign.
Shevchenko played for AC Milan between 1999 and 2006, in addition to a short loan spell from Chelsea in 2008. The former striker won the Champions League with the Rossoneri in 2003, a year before securing the Ballon d’Or for his incredible performances during Milan’s Scudetto-winning campaign of 2003-04.
The 45-year-old returns to Serie A after spending five years coaching the Ukraine national team. Shevchenko will face his former boss Jose Mourinho in his first game in charge of Genoa, meeting the Giallorossi in a league match on November 21.
