Atalanta's Zapata was tempted by Inter

Mon 01 November 2021 | 14:13

The La Dea star revealed that he was tempted to make a move to Nerazzurri over the summer and believes the battle against the Red Devils tomorrow will be intense.

Duvan Zapata

, who met the back of the net six times in 12 matches for his side this season, talked about the clash against

Manchester United

in the Champions League tomorrow.

Atalanta

have the same point as

Villarreal

in Group F in the Champions League.

Gian Piero Gasperini

, however, thinks the encounter with Man Utd will not be decisive, while the Colombian striker believes their clash will be “intense”.

I expect a tough game, like every Champions League match,”

Zapata said.

“They’ve just won in the Premier League. Intensity will be high, so we’ll need to make the most of our characteristics. We must try to win.

“I am motivated. The mental aspect is the most important thing. Performances are a consequence of how you train.

“We don’t have a lot of time to train, but when we enter the pitch, we always want to have the same intensity.”

La Dea will face

Cristiano Ronaldo

again after the Portugal international found the target for the fourth time against Atalanta two weeks ago.

The Portuguese star found the back of the net and helped his side win the battle 3-2 against Gasperini’s men.

“We’ll need to be ready and don’t give space to him and United.”

Zapata’s contract with the Serie A side runs until 2023, but he could have made a move to Inter in the summer.

I was tempted by Inter,”

Zapata admitted.

“However, I have my ideas, I am happy to have stayed in Bergamo which is the best thing for my family and me.”
