The PSG boss says he has substituted the Argentine as a precaution.

PSG defeated Lille with a 2-1 result on Friday. The Parisians secured another narrow win as Lionel Messi spent another calm night at Parc des Prince.

After an underwhelming performance in the first half, the Barcelona legend was

replaced

by Mauro Icardi at the beginning of the second period. Messi was said to have a muscular problem, but Mauricio Pochettino says there is no problem with the 34-year-old's fitness.

"We don't think he's injured. He saw the doctor as a precaution, in accordance with the medical staff,"

Pochettino said at his post-match news conference.

"It is hoped that he will be available for the next match."

Messi is yet to score or assist for PSG in the domestic league, marking his worst start to a campaign since the beginning of his senior career.

The Argentina international, who is considered among the top favourites to win the Ballon d'Or this year, hopes to shine again in the Champions League when his side meets

RB Leipzig

on Wednesday.
