The Blues are keen to sign a contract extension with their successful academy graduate.

Since making his Chelsea debut in August 2019,

Mason Mount

has quickly established himself as a key player for the Blues. The 22-year-old is among the lowest-paid players in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, earning around £75,000 per week. However, the London club are keen to give their star midfielder a pay rise before his current contract expires.

According to

, Chelsea are keen to make Mount one of their top earners. The player still has over two-and-a-half years left on his current deal, but the Blues are keen to sign an extension before the contract expires. However, a formal offer is yet to be made as Chelsea are currently working on the contracts of Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Trevoh Chalobah.

Chelsea fans selected Mount as the club’s Player of the Year for his impressive performances in Chelsea’s Champions-League-winning campaign of 2020-21. The player has also proved to be an essential part of the Blues’ midfield for providing Romelu Lukaku with enough passes upfront.

Mount is keen to stay at Chelsea, but he wants to be valued alongside the likes of Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who earn way more than what he does. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can extend the contract of the England international before the end of the current season.
